This page was inspired by the list of comic book-friendly songs that appeared in Wizard #78, though this is much more extensive. My main sources of infomation are the original International Lyrics Server, Amazon.com, and user input.

How do I submit a song to be listed?

Just e-mail me (remember to take the spaces out of the e-mail) with the song name, band name, and album (if applicable). I'll take a look at the lyrics, and if the song actually refers to the characters you say it does, I'll add it in when I update the page. Which isn't often, so have some patience, please. I'll try to be better about it.

Why isn't [insert name of famous song] included on this page?

Many reasons. If it's a new song, then I simply haven't updated the page since the song's release. Or maybe I've never heard of the song before (it can happen). Most likely though, is that I know the song and don't believe it actually refers to any superheroes.

A lot of superhero names also happen to be metaphorical names. "Superman" can refer to Clark Kent, or it can refer to someone of great strength and power (remember the writings of Nietzsche). There's Peter Parker, the Spider-Man. And then there's a spiderman, who could just be someone creepy. And Tony Stark is Iron Man, but there's also a competition named that in Hawai'i, because it can also mean someone very tough.

So unless you can make a really good case for a particular song that happens to be vague and metaphorical, it's not going in. Period.

Swinging on the web since September 1, 1998.
